BROKEN

So if you haven’t heard (which is doubtful)… i am broken. My knee is royally fucked and i get surgery after this semester is over. Bonus- i got to ride in a really fast ambulance to the hospital and was amused by watching my hear rate slowly come out of shock!

This means a few things
One- Me=not so happy. Tes is being amazing and helping me but i can’t help but be frustrated that i can’t freakin move….. it allows me to watch a lot of game show network and that is about it. I can still walk along with a cane at snail pace… but it is frustrating to say the least.
I have been having lots of thoughts of dropping out (which obviously i won’t do a week away from finals… that is just silly) And i run into bouts of depression every three or four days… YAY. But i am sure this will all go away once i start walking again. Nom nom nom this is me being depressed, but seriously it could be worse, it could have hit my head! That would not have been good…. but now i don’t like ladders
Now my list of irrational fears includes:
hammocks
ladders
and charizard coming to life
I mean he is a bitch ass pokemon but… that would be freakin terrifying!

Two. We must all get together post-op so that we can revel in college tales and the like

Thankfully i have enough vicadin (or however the fuck you spell it) too either make a great deal of money or to keep me out of severe pain most of the time. I am just hobbling along and feel very much so like Gregory House, angst and all.

UPDATE ON NEIL-MAS

Okay, I didn’t stalk him. I started hearing drifts that some people were having boundary and respect issues and I decided even seeking him out out of curiosity would be bad. So I waited patiently until 7:30. He did a reading. A QandA with my Non-Fiction professor and then an audience QandA, another reading, then a signing. They were saying that they weren’t going to do a signing because they were expecting so many people, but a lot of people wussed out (probably because of the heat) and they decided to do the signing. Anyway, after a half-hour-ish(?) of waiting I finally got to get my book signed (Neverwhere because it was the first thing of his I read.) He was affable and gracious (if a bit tired), hair characteristically tussled. I got out a very quick anecdote about how the cover to Coraline went through my job and how it made my monotonous work feel very cool. He smiled and said, “Oh, I’m glad.” And that was pretty much my experience. And it was awesome.

Hi guys,
I need a summer job. Pretty badly.
I had big plans to take a language course this summer but it just didn’t make sense in the long run. I still would have had to waste 2 semesters back at school, so I opted for a new language- Japanese. Shut Up. I checked out the professor and she seems legit; the class seems worthwhile.
But now I have nothing to work towards this summer, no internship, no job, dwindling money, and a very shaky plan for my future. I’m not feeling too hot.
I know I can cut it writing wise, but I’m not sure how. I’m looking for an internship with Dark Horse Comics, or even Marvel, but here’s the freaking kicker- where would I live? They don’t offer a stipend. I’d need another job to pay for housing.
And I’m super scared. I feel like I should be a grown up and apply for several positions in other areas, (Did you know Cal Ripken baseball needs a gaphic design intern? Hit that shit up) but I’m frightened. I’m good at…..writing. And final cut pro. Kind of.
Another option is going to visit Leslie in Copenhagen, where she said she could hook me up with a 2-3 week internship at a diabetic supply giant or Dell. That could be neat, but again, money.
Any ideas? Or jobros macros. They too help.

Five Minutes to Places

There is this 40 or so year old actor who has been either (a) hitting on my hot, black-clad self or (b) being much too familiar and friendly in a fatherly way that is still borderline Lifetime movie “familiar.”
Which made me think, I could be a mistress. We have a props mistress, for one thing, and she is level headed and always has her shit together. Unfortunately, as the ATD pointed out, we are in a recession. I admit putting out is being affected by inflation- I’d have to do more for dinner and let’s say a semi-precious stone in a silver or platinum setting than I would have five years ago, but I am aware of the economics of being a mistress.
“I have a young mistress in the theatre.”
If I were an older man, (Who is a doctor from Salem with an ex wife and an interest in amateur theatre with blue eyes and a healthy appreciation of stage management), I’d get a kick out of saying it.

Our opening night, in other news, kicked so much ass. Our school has no business doing a show as big as this but we nailed it in every way, and each time the chaser lights went on and the audience stood up and roared I thought my god, my god, how could you do anything else.
